Last week, the Chicago 2016 Olympic organizers finally decided against bulldozing Lake County FP's for the proposed 2016 Olympic equestrian events. Originally, they had somehow decided to put the events, expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people, into the County's Lakewood FP. Why they would choose to develop a passive natural area for this is unknown, especially when there are a number of well developed, internationally recognized equestrian facilities in Chicagoland. Luckily there was an uproar from many, a nesting pair of sandhill cranes, and probably too much trouble for a Chicago group competing with many high powered cities around the globe. Finally, Tempel Farms, home of the Tempel Lipizzans in Wadsworth, was chosen. About time.
